One of the jewelry trends that you should be considering for the fall and winter of 2010 and the winter and spring of 2011 is rings. We are not just talking a couple of rings either – You should really be layering them on. Embellish your fingers with a variety of different rings, and do not be afraid to add some bracelets to the mix. Wearing a lot of jewelry on your wrists and hands is becoming a really big trend, especially considering how much you can dress up or dress down an outfit just using accessories.

There are some keys to consider when layering rings and making them look outstanding without actually taking things too far or going over the top. Think hippy rings, 70s inspired rings, cabochons and mood rings. Overly blingy rings are a waste of space, and you might want to avoid punky skulls, knuckle dusters and whatnot. Instead, you should try to focus on natural stones, glass, turquoise, aquamarine, amber, lapis lazuli, sodalite, onyx, quartz and garnet for example.

Natural rings with big natural stones are great, but avoid the precious gems like rubies and emeralds in favor of the semi-precious stones. Turquoise, for example, looks absolutely stunning in big chunky rings that cover the fingers well. For something darker, consider smoky quartz which can vary significantly in hue ranging from black to clear with plenty of smoky grays in between.

Here is another hint that you are going to want to consider: You should be layering up the rings without over cluttering them. Armor inspired rings, tribal rings and other themed rings are absolutely wonderful as long as you do not overdo your layering. Too many rings can completely spoil the look that you are going for, and can hamper your ability to use your hands at the same time.
